MIGRATION GUIDE · IN DEVELOPMENT

From Apple Passwords. To your next vault.

A local CSV parser, preview, and import workflow are implemented in development code. Source field coverage and authenticator migration are still being checked.

Source instructions: Apple’s current Mac Passwords guide. Actual app export-version coverage still needs validation.
Reference documentation reviewed 14 October 2026.

01 / PREPARE YOUR SOURCE

Export from your current app.

  1. Open the Passwords app on your Mac and unlock it.
  2. Choose File → Export All Passwords to File, or export a selected password.
  3. Click Export Passwords and choose a private local location.
  4. Keep the CSV for the future native import workflow. Do not upload it to this website.
02 / PLANNED UNUMVAULT COVERAGE

What we’re validating.

  • The development parser reads standard login fields and supports OTPAuth setup values when present.
  • The development workflow reports malformed rows, duplicates, and unsupported authenticator settings. Release validation remains open.
  • Exact field coverage will be published after an actual export is tested end to end.
03 / CHECK THE EXCEPTIONS

Know what needs extra care.

  • The CSV is not encrypted.
  • Apple’s export omits Wi-Fi passwords, access to Sign in with Apple accounts, and passwords in shared groups you did not create.
  • Passkey migration is outside this CSV importer’s planned scope.
04 / AFTER A VERIFIED IMPORT

Finish the move with confidence.

Our release workflow will ask you to review the report, verify representative credentials and authenticator settings, and create an encrypted backup. Keep your source manager available until all unresolved items have a migration action.

Remove plaintext exports when you’re done and check for extra copies in Downloads, Trash, backups, or synced folders. Deleting a file does not guarantee secure erasure.
