MIGRATION GUIDE · IN DEVELOPMENT

From 1Password. To your next vault.

A local 1PUX importer is implemented in the development build. We’re checking field coverage and data preservation before recommending production migration.

1PIn validation.1pux

Source instructions: 1Password 8 on Mac. Production migration across actual source exports is still being validated.
Reference documentation reviewed 14 October 2026.

01 / PREPARE YOUR SOURCE

Export from your current app.

  1. Open and unlock 1Password 8 on your Mac.
  2. Choose File → Export, then select the account.
  3. Enter your account password and select 1PUX as the export format.
  4. Export to a local folder you control. Keep the .1pux archive intact.
02 / PLANNED UNUMVAULT COVERAGE

What we’re validating.

  • The development parser maps credentials, URLs, notes, tags, favorites, custom fields, and source vault grouping.
  • Supported one-time-password seed fields and settings are retained when present; source coverage remains under validation.
  • The development code retains attachments and opaque source data. Field mapping, reporting, and fresh-install preservation still need release validation.
03 / CHECK THE EXCEPTIONS

Know what needs extra care.

  • 1PUX is unencrypted. Do not email it or upload it here.
  • Desktop exports exclude passkeys. App-to-app Credential Exchange is a separate future integration.
  • 1PUX can include documents, attachments, and custom icons. UnumVault’s file preservation code is implemented, but complete coverage and usability are not yet validated.
04 / AFTER A VERIFIED IMPORT

Finish the move with confidence.

Our release workflow will ask you to review the report, verify representative credentials and authenticator settings, and create an encrypted backup. Keep your source manager available until all unresolved items have a migration action.

Remove plaintext exports when you’re done and check for extra copies in Downloads, Trash, backups, or synced folders. Deleting a file does not guarantee secure erasure.
